Features discontinued from Exchange 2007
1) IMF is no longer will be used, as exchange 2007 came up with the anti-spam agents in the Hub Transport and Edge Transport server roles.
2) There is no more options called as “Administrative Groups” instead of this exchange 2007 uses split permissions model so that user will be able to manage the Exchange-specific properties on the recipients without requiring additional AD permissions.
3) As exchange 2007 uses Active Directory site-based routing Microsoft removed Routing groups and Link state routing.
4) No more available of DSA.msc for the exchange tasks and exchange tabs for the recipient because recipient management console is included in the exchange 2007 itself.
5) Exmerge is no longer supported instead of this we have “Shell Export-Mailbox” cmdlet or the move mailbox wizard
6) We have update-Addresslist and update-Emailaddress policy instead of RUS.
7) No More ADC !!!!
8) OMA has been switched to Exchange Activesync or if you want this feature then need to retain a computer that is running exchange 2000/2003 in E2K7 organization.
9) There is no SMTP virtual server instances instead of that we use exchange 2007 SMTP connectors
10) Message Tracking mechanism no more available as it is using the Exchange Server Mail Flow Analyzer.
11) Like the above we don’t have mailbox recovery center, clean mailbox tool & migration wizard instead of that we Exchange server Disaster Recovery Analyzer, Export-mailbox and move mailbox option.
12) Microsoft Office outlook 2007 has the feature to share free/busy data across the forest so there is no need of inter-organization replication tool.
This are the some the features which have benn discontinued. But there are certain more feature which is going to be re-added in Exchange 2007 after the release of SP1 like PF configuration. S/Mime, Monthly calender view etc. And one more thing if we want to get back our discontinued feature we need to retain exchange 2000/2003.
Will add to the list if I get any updates.
